Oncology 101

January 7 - 8, 2022

- To ensure the safety of our attendees, faculty, and exhibitors in light of COVID-19, this conference will be a virtual (online) event. -

The demand for cancer care is expected to grow 40% over the next six years and ASCO is projecting a shortage of more than 2,200 oncologists by 2025. To meet the cancer care needs of patients, advanced practice providers (APPs), whose education and training is focused on health promotion, disease prevention, and primary care medical management, have increasingly been sought to filled the shortage. However, many APPs have little background or training in oncology. As a result, oncology practices need to provide new staff with an onboarding program that helps to establish a working baseline level of knowledge of hematology and oncology.

To help APPs prepare for a new career in the specialty of oncology, Horizon CME in partnership with APAO has developed “Oncology 101: A Hematology and Oncology Primer for Advanced Practice Providers”. In this one-and-a-half-day program, clinicians will gain a basic understanding of cancer therapies, benign and malignant hematologic disorders, solid malignancies, supportive care strategies, genetics and molecular testing, and more. Participation in this program will help pave the way for APPs to provide support and care to cancer patients as part of the multidisciplinary oncology care team.

Excellent. We’ll need to sort out a few details.

* How did you hear about this activity?
* Are you a Pharmaceutical/Medical Device Industry Employee?

*Space is limited. The reduced registration fee is in place for oncology clinicians who are active in the field and involved in the management of care for their oncology patients. Industry Employees, including employees with a clinical degree (NP, PharmD, MD, PA-C, etc), can register for credit by clicking "YES" as an Industry Employee.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO PHARMACEUTICAL/MEDICAL DEVICE INDUSTRY EMPLOYEE WITH NON-CLINICAL DEGREES REGISTERING FOR APPOS (Not having a degree as an NP, PA, PharmD, RN, etc…) : In our efforts to ensure space for practicing clinicians, if you do not hold a clinical degree, your registration will be subject to the approval of our Medical Director and planning committee. As a CME conference, we need to ensure an appropriate balance of clinicians and Industry Personnel. Additionally, we also want to ensure that our Exhibitors have the maximum opportunity to interact with our attendees. Our Exhibitors paid a significant fee to support our conference and it would be unfair to them to have Industry Personnel circumventing the exhibit process.
